So...You're moving or thinking about relocating to our beautiful area of North Carolina. We have all four seasons (none to extreme), the Spring time is full of beautiful blooming trees and flowers, Summer is hot enough to get a tan, Fall with the trees changing colors to glowing oranges, red and yellows will astound you, Winter is mild and we do have a few snow flakes.

Oak Ridge:
The incorporated town of Oak Ridge is bounded by the Haw River and Haw River Road to the North; Peper and Beeson to the west; Reedy Fork Creek on the south and Eversfield road on the east.  The current population is estimated to more than 4100.  Oak Ridge is also steeped in history.  Oak Ridge Military Acadamy was founded in the 1850's and has been designated as "The official Military Academy of NC."  The school is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The old mill that you pass on your way to Oak Ridge on Hwy 68 is one of the oldest working mills in the states.  It was established before the Revolutionary War and it is said that General Cornwallis's troop ground meal here on their way to the Battle of Guilford Courthouse.

Stokesdale:
The town of Stokesdale was originally known as "Green Pond" A post office located within the General Store was authorized in the town shortly after the Civil War.  The Cape Fear and the Yadkin Valley Railroad was built from Greensboro to Mount Airy in 1886 and the Railroad station was located in Green Pond.  Around that time the town's name was changed to "Stokesdale" in honor of a Mr. Stokes.  Stokes was believed to have been an executive of the railroad, a conductor on the train or a surveyor who surveyed the area.

Real Estate Tips
Cosmetic Improvements >Brighter is Better

Sometimes a real estate agent will walk into a home that is basically attractive, yet communicates the feeling that something is lacking. Then the agent notices that all of the drapes are closed, interior lights are off and there is a lot of overgrown shrubbery blocking the sunlight that might otherwise pour through the windows.

A dark house is not as appealing to most buyers as one that is flooded with light. As a part of your preparations to market your home, try to maximize the light in your home. Make sure that all the windows are clean and the drapes are open when the house is being shown. A fresh coat of light paint can do a lot to brighten up the interior. If your house has very dark paneling, and you do not wish to repaint the walls, you may want to consider adding additional lamps. Your real estate agent may be able to provide other simple and cost-effective ideas about how to maximize your home's appeal.
